The Minas Basin: Elements of Light
Geri Nolan-Hilfiker

April 25 – May 23, 2008

opening reception at 7:00 pm, Friday April 25
artist’s talk May 10, 1:00 pm

Pinhole photography captures the dazzling beauty of Nova Scotia’s Minas Basin in this exhibition. Born in Amherst, Nova Scotia, Geri Nolan-Hilfiker is a photographer with an eye for experimentation. Geri believes that pinhole photographs express an aura of pure light. Of working with pinhole cameras the artist says, “Without a viewfinder to compose the image one needs to trust what the camera will see on their behalf. Working with a pinhole camera is as close to drawing with light as you can get.”

After sifting through the storage room and the vault, making curatorial decisions, conducting research, and preparing statements about their choices, seven dedicated docents have curated an exhibition they wish to share with you.
